On Sunday, I attended a Hindu baby shower, known as Godh Bharai, for one of Alphonse's nieces. In the seventh month of pregnancy, the mom-to-be dresses like a bride, is showered with flower petals, fed with rice, bejeweled with bangles, slathered with sandal wood paste and turmeric. Money is pressed into her right hand. Family members sit in front of her and take turns giving blessings.

I think being slathered with sandal wood paste and turmeric sounds a lot better than fretting about the perfect stroller.
