On Sunday, courtesy of my upstairs neighbor Savitha,I tagged along to a surprise birthday party for her son, Varshan, who turned 13. He and his sister Ridhi were both in the cast of the high school play I attended at Chettinad Vidyashram, and the cast, director, his family, and lots of moms, also came to the party, held at a beach resort south of Chennai. Great food, impromptu Bollywood singalongs, beach antics and photo ops galore.
