Thanksgiving weekend in Kerala

Bethsaida: Lush, beautiful, fantastical; yet with the over-immaculate grooming of a high-end putt putt course.
Spent the holiday weekend at Bethsaida, a resort on the Arabian Sea where Catholicism, Ayurveda, Hinduism and hedonism coexist peaceably and a bit improbably. Hymns wafted from the chapel while guests sun bathed, sun saluted, took mysterious Ayruvedic treatments; then came to meals in robes and head wraps. I was happy to catch up with my friend Kaye and her colleague Jenna, who teach at the American School in Delhi, sip coconut water, swim and go pleasantly adrift for a  few days.

Reunited with my friend Kaye, whom I've known since our  Evening Sun days.

Locally sourced coconuts.

Local fishermen haul in their catch.

Folding the net.

Young women dipping their feet in the sea before they enter a convent.

Best time of day at the beach!
