Rose cookies, prepared at Christmas by Anglo-Indian families, came to India with the Portuguese. Here, they're deep-fried by Maggie, my friend Kaye's housekeeper, and boxed by the dozens and dozens for family and friends. I love the little mold used to shape the cookies while they cook.
